This quarter I’m learning how *not* to go nuts when my children make more noise than I want them to.

In that case there’s a seminar coming up on writing grants to raise funds for things like… films and ministry projects.

      #Writing Grants & Raising Money

Do you have to raise money for your ministry or organization? Learn from Dr. Scott Cormode as he gives a presentation and engages questions regarding fundraising strategies.

      Tuesday, May 7
      12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
      250 N. Madison, 2nd Floor Conference Room

This short seminar will discuss specific questions about how to effectively write foundation grant proposals as well as larger questions about how to raise money for ministries and non-profits. Light snacks will be provided.

      RSVP: jmulder@fuller.edu

Sponsored by the Student Stewardship Group and the Development Office

Yes, I’m helping organize and video record it 🙂

And hoping to raise millions of $ because of it!

I was really excited to see that hit my inbox. Good work.

“They were playing the nihilists Arkady and Bazarov in Turgenev’s Fathers and Sons,” explained scholar Juan Cole, citing an 1862 Russian novel to explain the motives of a criminal whose Twitter account was full of American rap lyrics. One does not recall such use of literary devices to ascertain the motives of less exotic perpetrators, but who knows? Perhaps some ambitious analyst is plumbing the works of Faulkner to shed light on that Mississippi Elvis impersonator who tried to send ricin to Obama.

This TED talk gets at the opportunity we have to use tech to augment and accellerate our natural abilities and the importance of removing interface friction for that to function.

I like it too. This piece gets at why user experience is, to me, one of the most exciting places to be working in IT. Removing that friction.

The Internet enabled a redneck partier I once knew to develop an interest in, purchase & learn to use a set of turntables to DJ for friends.

Similarly, it will enable a generation to learn about and find their ways into jobs and careers no one in their communities could imagine.

It will still be schools who help bridge the spark of a new path w/the means to follow it, but they will have to meet their students online.

I’m learning that a high view of scripture requires a thoughtful and thorough understanding of the humans God used to bring it into being.

Sure. That sounds good. But since they lived so very long ago, how are you going to do that?

Study archaeology, present primitive cultures and humans today.

By the way, I can’t see where to post something new. Do I have to register? Or follow? Or friend?

I did this by using the “Add Media” option and linked to an instagram source url and then manually told the image to link back to the instagram post page. Kind klugy. But not unworkable. It would work for a meme war.
